Prepaid vs Postpaid

Which is better, Prepaid or Postpaid? While Jio Fiber Prepaid and Postpaid offer the same plans, they differ along three crucial parameters:

Billing Cycle

-For Prepaid Services, you need to make an advancement payment. Instead of billing at the end of the cycle or data usage, pay before!

-For Postpaid Services, you need not make an advanced payment but pay after your broadband package ends. So expect to make the payment shortly after 30days/3m/6m/12m collapse depending upon your plan cycle.

Pay on the 1st/11th/21st of every month depending on the date of your installation. The user must pay within 9 days of plan cessation to avoid penalty charges. If you fail to pay within the time bracket specified by Jio then you will be fined either Rs 100 or 2% of your entire bill along with the remaining and next dues.

Installation Charges

Postpaid users enjoy free installation whereas prepaid users have to pay at least Rs2500 as installation charges. Breaking it down:

However it is important to note that Free Installation for Postpaid Users are only available for 3m/6m/12m plans. For the 30 mbps plan, free installation is only available on the 6m/12m plan.

OTT Access

While OTT services are available at no additional cost for 150 mbps plans and above, you have a special option in Postpaid plans to avail OTT services.

While Prepaid Users cannot purchase 6/14 OTT subscription pack for an additional cost, Postpaid Users can purchase for just Rs100 and Rs 200 respectively.

Thus Postpaid Users can avail OTT services in all plans whereas Postpaid Users would have to upgrade to 150 mbps plan to get OTT services.

Important Note

It is important to note that while Prepaid Users can upgrade to Postpaid Services at any time, Postpaid Users cannot upgrade to Prepaid services. To convert to Prepaid from Postpaid, one would have to discontinue their services before applying for prepaid.
